Clothilde Marchand was a French artist, a mom and a woman who got caught in the crosshairs of other people's affairs. When she opened the door to a woman named Nancy Bowen on March 6, 1930, and was asked one simple question, she didn't realize the answer she gave was enough for Nancy to make an awful decision that would end Clothilde's life.
